This week proved to be a busy week for the Archive with a number of screenings..

On Tuesday, the Baker Street Chapel Society, Aberystwyth, came to the Drwm for a film show. They were shown footage of the 1949 National Eisteddfod held in Dolgellau, as well as a series of films on weddings.

Wednesday afternoon, the film Land of the Red Dragon was shown in the Drwm. This was to coincide with the visit of Jonathan Jones, Director of Tourism and Marketing with Visit Wales, who gave a talk following the film.

Wednesday evening, Iwan Jenkins and Trystan Jones from the Archive, travelled to Horeb Chapel in Oswestry to screen local archive footage from that area. This included the film Y Cymru – Mynd i’r Wasg, which shows how the weekly Welsh paper, Y Cymro was printed in the town.

It’s been a very busy week, and within the next few weeks, we will travel to Dolgellau and Capel Isaac by Llandeilo for screenings!

This Saturday, the Archive will have a stall at The Cinema Museum’s Memorabilia Bazaar, London. Nearest tube stations – Kennington(Northern line) or Elephant & Castle(Northern/Bakerloo lines). See you there!

This week, I have been mostly working on arranging a series of events to celebrate the Archive’s 10th anniversary.

The celebrations will officially kick off on Friday, 1 April, and will then continue until the end of the year. Celebrations will take place at the Drwm and at other venues across Wales. We will be finalising the arrangements for these events in the next few weeks and will be adding them to our website.

We have also been compiling a list of all the places we have screened Archive material around Wales. Over the last ten years, we have visited over 60 towns and villages which range from Rhyl to Monmouth and from Harlech to Pontyberem!
