Since the beginning of the year many events and screenings have taken place in the Drwm. If you were not fortunate enough to have a ticket for one of these events, or were unable to attend, our technical crew have recorded many of the events, for prosperity.

If you would like to visit the Archive to view one of these items, you can take a look at our on-line catalogue.  Choose the relevant cataloguing record, and then make a request for the item.  We will need 24 hours notice, and you can visit the Archive between 9.30 and 5.00, Monday to Friday.

Here are a few items that have been held in the Drwm recently:

Precious Life Project’ – Students from Coleg Ceredigion presenting their short films, using amateur footage from the Archive.

A Cook’s Year in a Welsh Farmhouse’ – Elisabeth Luard discusses her new book.

Coronation Street – Terry Dyddgen-Jones’ – the director of the famous soap series Coronation Street, and many others.

An Evening of Antique Porcelain‘ – Henry a John Sandon, familiar faces from BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, give an entertaining and informative talk on antique porcelain.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend PSMW’s Summer School (that is, Public Sector Management Wales) – and that’s a real mouthful! – in Lampeter. They are part of the Welsh Government, and 250 managers from the public sector in Wales came together to discuss the issues around ‘Engagement’. It was an intensive week of learning, and I hope to be able to apply some of the techniques discussed at summer school here at the Archive over the coming months! I had a chance to reflect on what sort of manager I am, and how I can improve  – no bad thing! I must admit that I found the opportunity to discuss with people from various fields to be valuable, and I appreciated the lack of synicism that can sometimes be felt at such events.

Tomorrow evening, I will be travelling down to Milford Haven to screen a collection of William Haggar films at the Torch Theatre. This screening will be part of the Pembrokeshire Schools Film Festival.

We will screen the following Haggar films:

A desperate poaching affray
The life of Charles Peace
The bathers’ revenge
The maid of Cefn Ydfa
A message from the sea &
The sheep stealer

A local musician, Mark Jones will be providing live piano accompaniment to the films.

It should be a good event and remember to pop in if you’re in the area. Desperate Poaching Affray
